We believe the best way to go through our process is to use a real architectural vision we created and why we designed it the way we did. So please enjoy The Nordic Suite

The Nordic Suite

This house struggles from an already clashing architecture mixed with pure 1970’s aesthetic. This room specifically stands out as it hosts vertical paneling before transitioning into thick horizontal logs. The entryway is enveloped in tons of windows making any vertical presence hard to pull off, while the grand halls horizontal logs and high ceilings demand verticality. The goal with this architectural vision is to make this stretch of the home feel seamless and allow for multiple style options to combine with these centerpiece items.

In all these pieces we have embraced the heavy lines by incorporating slats in the structure as well as chose riftsawn white oak for its elegant straight grain. To break up the strong orange and brown tones we went with a velvet cotton white finish.

We started this vision by breaking up the massive opening connecting the two areas by designing a large floating divider protruding from the wall, the slats keep both rooms feeling airy and connected while also building a boundary between the two styles. Between the new opening we made, we envisioned a long transition table to build a mental hallway between the areas. This table features a thick waterfall leg on the entryway side to help stand out against the thick logs. The top gets progressively thinner Aswell as its width as you walk past, making the massive room ahead feel even larger, while the A-frame legs keep it feeling open.

The Highboy serves as a vertical anchor, bridging the gap between floor and ceiling through a meticulous use of light and shadow. the slatted lower bench provides a grounded, textural foundation, while the illuminated upper cabinet creates a visual ‘breathing space’ within the room. It is a centerpiece designed to harmonize with the eclectic decor while maintaining its own quiet, commanding presence.

For the entryway we choose a heavy horizontal focal point using an 8-foot credenza. It celebrates the uninterrupted beauty of the hand-picked riftsawn white oak. the grain is meticulously oriented to wrap around the piece, creating a unified architectural form that feels both solid and fluid. smooth-gliding doors reveal a dedicated interior for sound systems and accessories, where every shelf is mounted on custom-milled brass hangers for effortless adjustment.

Now with all those centerpieces we have created a mix of modern Nordic design and Mid-Century Modern, allowing for the use of a wide variety of styles for regular furnishings to complete these two areas.
